What Sustainability Really Means to Me

Inspired by the lessons in The Responsible Company, I’m building with intention—for performance, for people, and for the planet.

Forrest Simpson

Introduction
To me, sustainability isn’t a buzzword or a branding angle—it’s a responsibility. One that extends beyond the products I design to how I show up as a business owner, engineer, and person. When I first read The Responsible Company by Yvon Chouinard and Vincent Stanley, it reshaped the way I think about business. It challenged me to ask tougher questions and build a company that isn’t just focused on growth, but on doing things the right way. That’s the foundation of Atlas Product Group.
Lesson 1: Make Things That Last
“The most responsible product is the one you don’t have to buy twice.” – Yvon Chouinard
That quote hit home for me. At Atlas, I design every product to go the distance—whether it’s a sim racing accessory, a splint built for backcountry use, or a minimalist health tool. I use high quality materials and run products through rugged testing before anything ships. Because the most sustainable thing I can do is make something you won’t need to replace.Lesson 2: Know Your Impact
I believe that knowing your supply chain is the bare minimum. I work with manufacturing partners who share my values—people who care about their workers, their energy sources, and their environmental footprint. At my shop in Colorado, I’ve adopted lean production and additive manufacturing techniques that help me reduce waste and run more efficiently. I’m constantly digging deeper into the impact of every material and process I use.
Lesson 3: Packaging Matters Too
Packaging might seem like a small detail, but it’s part of the responsibility. I’ve shifted to recyclable, plastic free, and often compostable materials. I design packaging to be functional beyond delivery—whether that’s a storage tray, a reusable pouch, or simply something that disappears cleanly when you’re done with it.
Lesson 4: Carbon Neutrality as a Standard
I track every bit of carbon that comes from my operations—whether it’s from powering machines, shipping parts, or sourcing materials. I reduce where I can and offset what I can’t yet eliminate through verified reforestation and soil restoration projects. The goal is net zero by 2027.
Lesson 5: Sustainability as a Daily Practice
One of the biggest takeaways from The Responsible Company is that sustainability isn’t a box to check—it’s a discipline. It’s something I work on every day, whether that’s refining a product to use less material, revisiting packaging, or just listening closely to what my customers care about. I treat every touchpoint—design, production, support—as an opportunity to improve. This is why I offer lifetime repair for many products and why every support message gets a human reply from me or my team.
Conclusion
Atlas Product Group is a reflection of my values. I won’t claim perfection, but I’m committed to doing better every year and making products I can stand behind—products built for real use, made as responsibly as possible. If that resonates with you, I’d love for you to follow along, share your feedback, and support businesses that give a damn.
“Every decision is an environmental decision—act like it.”

Transitioning from SIGHealth to Cura: What’s Changing and Why

An open note to our customers about where we started, where we are headed, and what you can expect along the way.

Forrest Simpson

From a side project to a dedicated mission
SIGHealth began inside a tiny skunk works style effort we called Simpson Innovation Group. Back then the health line was a passion project we worked on after hours, squeezing in experiments whenever the main business allowed. Resources were lean, but curiosity was high.
Our very first launch was a simple stethoscope holder. It solved a daily annoyance for clinicians, and your steady support kept it moving off the shelves for the past two years. That early success showed us there was room for thoughtful, user driven tools in healthcare.
Growing into more advanced solutions
Today the little side hustle has grown into a full product team developing splints, oliscopes, and other tools that demand deeper engineering, tighter quality control, and broader clinical feedback. The scale is bigger, the stakes are higher, and the vision is clearer: build reliable medical products that feel intuitive in the hands of both professionals and everyday caregivers.
Why the new name
As our roadmap expanded we realized the old name no longer captured our purpose. We wanted a banner that speaks directly to our core promise: caring design that improves real world care.
We chose Cura. In Latin, cura means “care.” The word reminds us that every sketch, prototype, and production run must serve people first. Cura signals our commitment to human centered design, rigorous testing, and transparent business practices.
What stays the same
• The team
You will still work with the same engineers, clinicians, and support staff who have answered your emails and phone calls since day one.
• The quality
Our manufacturing partners, materials, and inspection standards remain unchanged. If anything, the bar is moving higher as we invest in new equipment and certifications.
• The support
Your warranties, service agreements, and points of contact all carry over. Reach out the same way you always have; we will be here.
Looking ahead together
Rebranding is more than a new logo on the box. It is a public statement of the values that already guide our work behind the scenes. Thank you for helping us grow from a single stethoscope holder to a pipeline of advanced medical tools. Your feedback and trust made this evolution possible.
Explore Cura today, join our mailing list, and keep an eye out for upcoming product releases. The best is yet to come, and we cannot wait to share it with you.— The Cura Team

The Engineering Behind ProSimRacing Products: How Aerospace Grade Design Influences Sim Racing Gear

Forrest Simpson
December 19, 2024
3:32pm AKST

Sim racing gear should do more than look impressive on a rig. It should disappear in use, letting you focus on the apex rather than the hardware. At Atlas Product Group we apply the same mindset that guides spacecraft design to every accessory we release. Years spent engineering flight structures and launch vehicle hardware taught our team one lesson above all: precision is not optional. It is the baseline.
From Rockets to Race Tracks
Our engineers cut their teeth designing components that leave Earth orbit. That environment demands absolute reliability, minimal mass, and flawless repeatability. When you spend your days holding tolerances in the micron range and selecting alloys that survive cryogenic fuel loads, translating those skills to sim racing feels natural. The track may be virtual, but the forces on your hardware are very real.
Aerospace Principles in Every Component
Precision and reliability
CNC machined housings, ground stainless steel shafts, and laser inspected parts keep flex and play near zero so steering feel and pedal modulation stay consistent session after session.
Material optimization
We choose aerospace grade aluminum, carbon composite layups, and wear resistant polymers exactly where they make the most sense. The result is a stiffness to weight ratio that rivals professional motorsport hardware while staying comfortable for long stints.
Tolerance control
Detailed GD&T analysis ensures each assembly mates perfectly. That means no rattles, no binding, and a uniform experience whether you are heel‑and‑toeing through Monza or logging endurance practice at three in the morning.
Digital to Physical with Advanced CAD and Simulation
Every product begins as a fully parametric 3D model. Finite element analysis predicts deflection under heavy brake loads or rapid steering inputs, letting us reinforce only where needed and shave grams everywhere else. This virtual sandbox shortens development time and guarantees that the first prototype already feels dialed in.
Rapid Prototyping and Iterative Testing
We run agile sprints familiar to any aerospace skunkworks. Parts move from CAD to in‑house CNC or carbon print farm within hours. Competitive drivers then thrash the prototypes on track and in telemetry labs. Their data flows straight back to the design team for refinements. The loop repeats until both the spreadsheet and the seat of the pants agree we nailed it.
Closing Invitation
If you care about immersion, durability, and the confidence that every input is captured exactly as you intended, explore the ProSimRacing lineup. The same engineering discipline that sends payloads to orbit now powers your pursuit of the perfect lap. Experience the difference for yourself and elevate your drive.

Why Failed Products Aren’t Failures: Lessons from the Development Process

Honest reflections from the workshop floor at Atlas Product Group

Forrest Simpson
March 27, 2025
7:52pm MST

Failure Is Part of the Blueprint
When people see a finished Atlas Product Group design—whether it’s a carbon‑fiber sim‑racing wheel mount or a medical splint—they’re looking at the last page of a very messy sketchbook. The truth is simple: not every product we design makes it to market, and plenty that do land with a thud instead of a cheer. That’s not a dirty secret; it’s the engine that drives our best work forward.
Every Misstep Is Data
Product development is, at its core, a feedback loop:
1. Build a hypothesis (the prototype).
2. Test it in the wild.
3. Listen—really listen—to what breaks, bends, or bores people.
4. Iterate.
A “failed” launch hands us hard numbers on tolerance stacks, reveals hidden use‑cases we never imagined, and exposes real customer pain points. Those lessons sharpen design instincts faster than any white‑board session ever could.Stronger Processes, Smarter Materials, New Ideas
Process: A batch of warped 3D‑printed brackets forced us to tighten our in‑house QC checklist and add real‑time thermal monitoring to the print farm.
Materials: An plastic mounting bracket that cracked under pressure nudged us toward a hybrid carbon‑fiber layup we now use across the entire racing line.
A Quick Anecdote
Our very first stethoscope holder looked slick on CAD but rattled like marbles once clipped to a real scrub top. We scrapped the design, interviewed nurses at three hospitals, and discovered they wanted a soft‑touch, snag‑free latch. The second‑gen holder became a quiet bestseller—and the user‑interview template we still rely on today.
The Mindset We Live By
1. Fail fast. Early, inexpensive prototypes keep ego (and budgets) in check.
2. Learn faster. Document every test—especially the ugly ones.
3. Build better. Fold the insight back into the next iteration without hesitation.
Keep Building
To every entrepreneur, designer, or engineer reading this: failure isn’t a verdict, it’s tuition. Pay it gladly, study the syllabus it hands you, and apply the lesson on the next build. The only real mistake is letting fear keep you from shipping version 1.0.
So here’s to the misprints, the cracked casings, and the features customers never used. They’re the stepping‑stones to excellence. Let’s keep creating, iterating, and learning—because the best product usually starts as the worst prototype.—Forrest Simpson, Founder, Atlas Product Group

Sim Racing Industry Analysis and Strategic Report

Forrest Simpson & Payton Clarke
April 15, 2025

Executive Summary
The sim racing industry is experiencing robust growth, evolving from a niche hobby into a global market driven by technological innovation and esports. In 2023, the global sim racing market (hardware and software) was estimated around $0.9–1.5 billion, depending on the scope of definition (Racing Simulator Market Report 2031- Global Size, Share) (Consumer Trends Driving Sim Racing Market Growth).
